Viola Ng is a Hong Kong-born oboist and educator dedicated to artistic excellence, thoughtful musicianship, and the joy of musical discovery. A First Class Honours graduate of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, where she also received the Student of the Year award, she completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in oboe performance at the Academy before pursuing further studies at the University of Music and Performing Arts Mannheim in Germany.

Throughout her musical journey, Viola has studied with distinguished oboists, including Kwan Sheung Fung, Yiu Song Lam, and Emanuel Abbühl. Her experience spans orchestral performance, chamber music, and solo repertoire, allowing her to approach music from a broad range of artistic perspectives.

As a teacher, Viola believes in fostering diligence, independent thinking, and problem-solving skills. She encourages students to develop technical proficiency and musical understanding while cultivating curiosity, confidence, and a genuine appreciation for the arts. Beyond achieving musical goals, she hopes to empower each student to become an independent learner who approaches challenges with perseverance and an open mind.

For Viola, music education is not simply about mastering an instrument, but about nurturing thoughtful individuals who can find meaning, fulfilment, and joy through music.
